Kalispell, MT (August 15, 2009) - Rain delays turned the scheduled Baby Grand Stock Car Association's Championship Weekend into a marathon event as all racing on Friday was canceled and Saturday's events were half completed before the rain pushed the final race to Sunday.

The following is excerpted from Montana Raceway Park Media - Doug Pace.

The Canadian Baby Grands held their championship races at Montana Raceway Park as the support show to the ARCA West Mac’s Series Bill Clark Memorial and 13-year old Cameron Hayley and cagey veteran, Troy Vandenbilche, thrilled the fans with two 40-lap mains of back to front racing.

Each main found Hayley and Vandenbilche starting at the tail end of the 12-car field by virtue of the top-2 qualifying runs on Saturday night.

In Saturday 40-lap main, Hayley grabbed the lead by lap 10 and cruised to the victory with Vandenbilche and Mike Kipp battling behind the Alberta native for second and third place.

On Sunday roles were reversed as Hayley got to the front by lap 20 but this time Vandenbilche had something for the youngster and took the lead with 15 laps to go. Hayley chased Vandenbilche with Kipp in tow but the pair were unable to move past Vandenbilche’s blue and white No. 80 at the stripe.

The upcoming Championship Weekend for the Baby Grand Stock Car Association of Canada previously set for August 15th and 16th at Hythe Motor Speedway in Hythe, AB has been re-scheduled. The venue has also changed.

The new dates are Friday, August 14th and Saturday, August 15th and the event will be held at Montana Raceway Park in Kalispell, MT.

The weekend will be a triple header for the Baby Grand stock cars with full MMRA Championship points available for each of the three races.

The Baby Grands made their first appearance at the high banked super oval in Kalispell earlier this year as part of the speedway's Fourth of July celebrations.

This time around, the teams of the BGSCA will be part of a gala weekend for Montana Raceway Park that will include the Kalispell Toyota Best in the West Super Late Model Invitational Race of Champions on Friday and an ARCA West Mac's Series super late model race on Saturday.

The rain out date has been set for the canceled May 9 opening round at Medicine Hat Speedway.

The new date will be Saturday, May 16th.

Persistent rains and intermittent hail storms caused officials of the Medicine Hat Auto Racing Association to cancel the Ronco Oilfield Hauling Season Opener of the 25th Anniversary season of the Medicine Hat Speedway.

Some of the eleven Baby Grand Stock Car Association of Canada (BGSCA) teams on hand for the event were able to get limited test and tune laps completed before the rains set in.

First car on the track was the #80 Vandenbilt Auto Body Chevrolet Monte Carlo driver by Golden, BC driver Troy Vandenbilche followed by Lethbridge, AB driver Sarah-Jo Paquette in the #63 Relay Trucking Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Following up on his two feature wins in Las Vegas, NV in the opening round of the BGSCA season, second year driver Cameron Hayley put his #24 Cabinets By Hayley Chevrolet Monte Carlo on the track for a short test session.

Vernon, BC driver Kyle Vriesinga made his first appearance in a Baby Grand Stock Car. Also able to get on track in the brief session were Calgary drivers Matt Potter, #15 P&M Painting Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Dale Edwards in the #10 Evolution Racing Products Chevrolet.

Edmonton area drivers Rob Fulton, Kevin Abel, and 2008 BGSCA and MMRA Western Pro Division Champion Michael Kipp and Calgary drivers Todd Yanda and Robert Stone were also at the Speedway but were unable to get their cars on the track.

The race day schedule for the May 16th rain date is tentatively set to be the same as the previous Saturday with hot laps scheduled for 12:30pm, qualifying at 4pm and racing at 7pm.

The Baby Grand Stockcar Association of Canada will hold its first general meeting of the 2009 race season at 1pm on Saturday, March 21st.

The agenda will include the 2009 schedule, Canadian points system for 2009, MMRA news and other club business.
